The senator representing Bayelsa-East
senatorial district, Ben Murray-Bruce, has slammed the All Progressives
Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party for trading blames over
national problems.
The senator said both parties were wasting time by criticising each other and thereby ignoring the solution.
Murray-Bruce, in a series of tweets on
his official Twitter handle, said both parties should be busy seeking
solutions to the fall of the naira and other economic challenges rather
than engaging in constant criticism that would not solve any problem.
He said, “Both the PDP and the APC
should stop the blame game. Don’t blame your opponent. Name your
solution or die a natural death.
“Instead of both parties pointing
accusing fingers at each other, let them point to solutions to lead us
out of our economic mess where $1 now equals N260. If one has no shame,
the other has no solution. The economy is dying while they exchange
insults. Grow up! Nigeria is greater than parties.”
The senator said the Federal Government
should not spend too much time responding to criticisms but should show
Nigerians that it can live up to its responsibilities.
He said by constantly reacting to the PDP’s accusations, the APC was leaving the business of governance to the opposition.
Murray-Bruce, who is a member of the
PDP, called on other senators to support his two bills which he claimed
would guarantee constant power supply in the country and an efficient
security system.
He added, “A government shouldn’t be
reactive. Government is a demonstration of power, not talk. Otherwise,
you would be in government and be governed by the opposition. If we
weren’t busy finding fault, we could get solutions with the same
intellect it takes to make ingenious excuses for failure.”
